OLDEST WOMAN TO SWIM ACROSS THE BEAGLE CHANNEL WITHOUT A WETSUIT.
The crossing began at 8:59 a.m., when Tita entered the water from Puerto Almanza, Argentina, with the goal of reaching the ramp in Puerto Williams, Chile. The feat had an exceptional characteristic: it was carried out without a wetsuit or any type of thermal protection, facing waters close to 8°C. The crossing was successfully completed after covering a distance of 8,900 meters, maintaining an average pace of 1 minute 30 seconds per 100 meters, finishing at 2 minutes per 100 meters in the final stretch. Tita arrived in Puerto Williams after 2 hours, 43 minutes, and 1 second, where she was received by residents of the Chilean town in an emotional finale.
With this crossing, Tita Llorens became the FIRST EUROPEAN WOMAN and the OLDEST swimmer (57 years old) to conquer the Beagle Channel at this distance of 8900 meters (8.9 km), consolidating a heroic feat within the history of winter swimming and open water swimming
