The treasure of Tillya Tepe Afghanistan

Few had seen them apart from the team led by Greek-Russian archaeologist Victor Sarigiannidis and a handful of employees at the Kabul National Museum.

It was the Afghan citizens themselves who saved many of the treasures kept in the Kabul Museum.

A group of soldiers managed to hide avoiding the damage of the Soviet invasion, the subsequent civil war and the Taliban stage, Until very recently, in the spring of 2004, it was not brought to light.

The new Government of Afghanistan allowed, under the supervision of a security guard and in the presence of renowned specialists, its official opening.

A small group of people were able to enter the armored chamber, analyze the safes, examine the stamps stamped on each of them, and attend its opening with a blowtorch.

Alongside some of the new government ministers were the governor of the Central Bank of Afghanistan, the director of the Kabul Museum and several specialists in Afghan history and art.

Among them is a man with a white mustache and hair,

Víktor Sarianidi, the Soviet archaeologist who, 26 years earlier, brought to light this exceptional treasure.

The bracelets are made of gold and turquoise, topped with lion heads.
